MARGAO: South Goa MP Narendra Sawaiker and Sanguem MLA Subhash Phal Desai will attend the Shiv Jayanti Utsav-2016 as chief guests for the function organised by Maratha Mitra Mandal, at Ravindra Bhavan, Margao on Sunday at 2.30 pm. Ravindra Bhavan chairman Damu Naik will be the guest of honour and the MMC Chief Officer Deepali Naik will be the special guest. Sujit Mane of Karad (Maharashtra) will be the keynote speaker.

The secretary of the mandal, BM Chowgule said the objectives of the programme is to create awareness about the history, ideals, works, principles and respect for women which were the cornerstones of Shivaji's statecraft.

BELAGAVI: Elections to elect the mayor and deputy mayor of the City Corporation of Belagavi (CCB) will take place on Friday. The City Corporation of Belagavi has 58 corporators and is dominated by the Maharashtra Ekikaran Samiti (MES), a pro-Maharashtra outfit, which is dominating the city corporation politics for over six decades. MES has 32 corporators, who belong to the Marathi speaking group. Presently, both the posts are being held by the MES. The post of the mayor has…
