Shivdas Kambli at Tivim VP helm

As expected, Shivdas Kambli was elected the new sarpanch of Tivim on Monday.
All nine panchayat members were present for the meeting to elect the new sarpanch.
Two panch members - Sandeep Khauthankar and Shivdas Kambli, applied for the sarpanch's post and in the ensuing election Kambli got the better of Khautankar by a margin of one vote.
The entire ruling group stood behind Kambli fetching him five votes, while the remaining four panch members from the opposition group backed Khauntankar.
Shivdas Kambli belongs to the ruling group and owes allegiance to former tourism minister and ex-Tivim MLA Nilkant Halarnkar, while Sandeep Khauthankar was with the opposition group supported by Tivim MLA Kiran Kandolkar.
The election to the post was necessitated after former sarpanch Vital Vaigankar resigned from the post on July 5.
It may be recalled the Director of Panchayat took more than two months to schedule the meeting to elect the new sarpanch in Tivim. Junior engineer Krishna Gadekar was the Presiding Officer for the meeting.
