Shooting accused granted bail
MAPUSA: The accused in the Anjuna shooting case was released on bail by a Mapusa court on Tuesday.
The Additional Sessions Court released Gajendra Chottu on a bail bond of Rs 25,000 and further directed him to surrender his passport, report to the police station for seven days and to cooperate with the police investigation.
On Saturday, Anjuna Police had managed to extend police custody of the accused for another four days.
It may be recalled that former member of Anjuna Panchayat, Surendra Govekar, who has been raising his voice against illegalities in Anjuna was shot at late Monday evening.
Two motorcycle borne assailants fired at the car in which Govekar was traveling on April 11. He was returning home after attending a hearing in the High Court on some illegal project in Anjuna.
Police have recovered a 9 mm bullet and are conducting further investigation.
