Police investigations into the double murder in Siolim have revealed that the prime accused, Rovina Pereira Lobo (29), had been keen to stay away from her two aunts-in-law in their ancestral house at Igrez-vaddo in Marna-Siolim.
Rovina and a hired killer, Subhan Nur Ahmad Rajyaballi (20) of Haveri-Karnataka but residing at Assagao, have been arrested on charges of murdering the two aunts-in-law, Martha Lobo (64) and her sister Vera Lobo (62) on Sunday night.
Sources said Rovina had a strained relationship with both aunts-in-law and wanted to reside separately from them. She is also reported to have discussed the matter with her husband, Julio, but he allegedly did not pay heed to her requests.
Sources added that Rovina and both aunts-in-law would have frequent altercations since the last one year.
Rovina was accused of attempting to assault Vera with a wooden stick and the matter was reported to the police station, with the police warning Rovina to avoid harming her aunt-in-law.
Incidentally, Julio and his family were residing in the ancestral house along with his two aunts, while Julio’s parents were residing near the ancestral house and had a strained relationship with Julio and his aunts.
