Targeting the BJP legislator from Calangute, former minister and BJP leader Dayanand Mandrekar said no amount of money power will sway the voters of Siolim.
Mandrekar also said that the voters of the constituency were with the BJP and will elect him in the February 14 assembly elections.
“The people who have come here are with me. And none of these supporters has been paid. We don’t require to pay people,” Mandrekar said while pointing to the large gathering which was following him in the campaign.
“Some individuals are saying the people are with them. If so, why do they have to pay Rs 1000 to each supporter? Why does he have to distribute envelopes with Rs 3000 to each home?” he said, alleging that Calangute MLA, Michael Lobo was paying off people to garner support.
Mandrekar said that he did not have to distribute money to get elected but will win on the strength of the karyakartas and people’s support to the party.
“A minister in our government is distributing money. If he gives money people should take it,” he alleged.
He further said that a person who has a lot of money should not only focus on “Together for Bardez” but encompass the entire Goa and make it “Together for Goa”.
