OLD GOA
The fiasco surrounding the Siridao beachfront beautification seems to have finally been resolved as the locals and the panchayat reached consensus on the matter. The consensus was reached after a meeting of the locals with the panchayat authorities was held in the panchayat on Wednesday. The meeting was called after the panchayat received a reply from the GTDC regarding the beautification.
At the meeting, it was decided that there wouldn’t be any wall surrounding the beautification area and a minimum height of two laterite stones would be maintained. It was also decided that the walls not part of the plan would be demolished.
Later, speaking to The Goan, Sarpanch Suwarna Kuncolienkar informed that other amenities like toilets, food carts, and parking areas would be allowed as per the GTDC plan.
“The locals were concerned about the walls affecting the view of the beachfront,” Kuncolienkar said, adding that now that the issue has been resolved, the beautification plan would proceed, incorporating the suggestions of the villagers.
