Siridao locals have decided to file complaint over illegal wall construction on the beachfront, with relevant authorities.

The decision was arrived at a meeting held on Sunday where the local MLA Viresh Borkar along with a large number of villagers participated.

Speaking at the meeting, MLA Borkar informed that he had given the contractor time till Saturday to demolish the wall as well as the iron pillars.

“However, today is Sunday and the wall is still standing tall and so are the iron pillars. So, now it has been decided that the locals will file complaint against the contractor and the GTDC as there is no mention of any wall in the plan,” Borkar stated.

He further stated that the complaint will be filed with the Chief Minister, local Siridao panchayat, the Agassaim police station, the Tourism Department, and others.

The MLA then came down heavily on the panchayat authorities for failing to stop the illegal wall construction.

“Despite being in the know of the opposition of the locals, the panchayat has not acted against the illegal wall construction,” Borkar said.

Earlier, the locals stopped the work of laying underground power cable to connect the transformer to the private property.
