The Special Investigation Team probing the multitude of fraudulent land-grab cases booked yet another FIR in a matter related to a piece of land in Calangute about a week ago.
The matter is related to the land belonging to the family of one Roland Remedious in Naikavado-Calangute and also involves complicity of former Bardez mamlatdar Rahul Desai. The other accused involved are Sandrick Fernandes, Antoneta Fernandes and Maria Angelica Fernandes who are all also named accused in some other cases related to land in Anjuna and Assagao.
Meanwhile, the SIT re-arrested Mohammed Suhail (46) on Tuesday afternoon in the matter related to another FIR registered by it back in September related to yet another parcel of land again in Naikavado-Calangute of the Goes-Proenca clan.
Suhail is remanded to five days police custody by a court. The Fernandes trio of Sandrick, Antoneta and Maria Angelica are also accused in this case.
Around 100 properties have fallen prey to the land fraudsters with the SIT examining several dozen complaints in addition to FIRs registered against the accused.
