Slipper thrown at CJI draws condemnation from lawyers

MARGAO
A group of city-based lawyers on Tuesday condemned the attack on the Chief Justice of India, Justice B R Gavai during proceedings in the Supreme Court.

Spokesperson of the All India Advocates Union Adv Seoula Vas and the lawyers assembled outside the South Goa district and Sessions Court to condemn the incident on Tuesday evening.

Vas told the media that such act of violence has no place in a democratic set up more so when the Judiciary which holds the hopes for the litigants.

Condemning the incident, senior lawyer Adv Anacleto Viegas said the act of throwing a slipper on the Chief Justice of India is an act against the entire Judiciary. “This act is totally condemnable and none should tolerate such acts of violence,” he said.
