The proposed piped natural gas project in the capital city, one of the initiatives of the ‘Smart City’ mission, was partly commissioned with a line in the Pai Bhavan Society at Tonca-Miramar charged on Friday.
Imagine Panaji Smart City Development (IPSCDL), managing director and CEO, Sanjit Rodrigues, IAS, and officials of the project partner Goa Natural Gas Pvt Ltd (GNGPL) did the honours on Friday morning in the presence of residents of Pai Bhavan Society. IPSCDL has said it opted to commission the PNG initiative on Women’s Day to reiterate that Panaji’s women deserve quality infrastructure and the initiative would make life easier and safer.
Rodrigues said the project of piped natural gas in Panaji along with GNGPL aims to redefine the city’s energy landscape. “With the introduction of natural gas infrastructure, we are paving the way for a cleaner and safer environment, while also ensuring uninterrupted energy access for all,” Rodrigues said.
As part of the Piped Natural Gas (PNG) project in Panaji, an estimated 3,000 households in the central part of the city as well as another 3,000 connections in St Inez are expected to be serviced soon. The project also envisages providing piped natural gas connections to other consumers other than residences such as commercial establishments, including restaurants and hotels.
