Upset on being denied the party ticket, PWD Minister Deepak Pauskar vowed to resign from the BJP along with his supporters and contest as an independent from Sanvordem constituency.
Addressing a news conference, Pauskar blamed Chief Minister Pramod Sawant for his indifferent behaviour towards him. “I knew that Sawant would backstab me at some point in time. Over these past two years, Sawant would avoid meeting me regarding discussion on issues concerning people and my constituents.”
“Every time I tried to meet him, he would suddenly leave on the pretext of an urgent meeting and would never have any discussion on important issues, be it employment, Sanjivani Sugar Factory or any other issue. I was sure that he would backstab me,” said Pauskar.
“While denying me the party ticket, party leaders did not give me a specific reason and that has hurt me the most,” claimed Pauskar.
“My decision to contest as independent has come from my supporters and well-wishers in all seven panchayats of Sanvordem constituency.”
Pauskar claimed he had worked hard for the BJP in the last three years and had been instrumental in getting about 16,600 members into the party from Sanvordem constituency.
“All these members are now set to resign en masse in the next few days,” claimed Pauskar.
The meeting was attended by a large number of Pauskar supporters and panchayat members from seven panchayats in Sanvordem constituency.
