Although the Tillari dam authorities have released water into the Tillari river basin, so far, there has been no impact on villages located around the Chapora river in Bardez, even as people living in houses near the river banks have been put on high alert.
Superintendent Engineer of the Water Resources Department, Dnyaneshwar Salelkar informed that the department has taken precautions by releasing the water at a gradual pace.
He said that so far the water from the Tillari dam was released at the rate of 20 cubic metres per second, which will be increased later.
“So far the rise in water level in the rivers is not much. But we are constantly monitoring the situation,” Salelkar said.
A local from Camurlim informed that the impact of the release of Tillari dam water was not noticeable thus far.
“We have received messages on our mobile phones that water from the Tillari dam has been released into the river and to remain alert on the sudden rise of water level. But so far no such rise in water has been reported in the river,” said Gajanan Kandolkar, a resident of Camurlim.
