Saying there is absolutely no investigation in the FIR registered by the Colva police, South Goa Additional Sessions Judge, Ram Prabhudesai on Tuesday said Fidol Pereira deserves to be granted anticipatory bail considering the peculiar facts of the case and the manner in which the investigation was carried out by the police.
The social activist had moved the court for anticipatory bail after the Colva Police registered a FIR against her based on a complaint that she had induced the complainant to pay money on the promise of providing a job overseas. Incidentally, the Investigation officer submitted to the Court that the complainant did not even possess a passport.
The case had taken a curious turn after the complainant filed an intervention application during the hearing of Pereira’s anticipatory bail application to deny the contents in the complaint lodged against her.
While granting the anticipatory bail, the Court has directed Pereira to furnish a personal bond of Rs. 5,000 with one surety of like amount and told to co-operate with the investigation and not tamper with the evidence.
Pereira’s lawyer Adv Amay Prabhudesai later told the media that justice has been done to his client by the Court since no case was made out against her after the complainant denied the contents in the complaint lodged against her.
