Around 413 IRB personnel who were in Uttar Pradesh have begun their return journey to the State.
Some of these personnel have decided to return by flights, while some have preferred to return via official mode of transport, KTC buses.
With basic transport arrangements, many personnel have preferred to take flights. There were unconfirmed reports that some tickets were sponsored by candidates from their respective constituencies.
Meanwhile, the Goa police personnel who replaced these 413 IRB personnel have been suffering from swollen legs and back pain due to five days of travel in basic Kadamba buses over a distance of about 2,000 kms.
“We were in 10 buses and these buses would stop late at night for lunch at a dhaba which could not cater to such a large crowd and so, we had to go without food,” complained a constable.
It may be recalled that 10 KTC buses were dispatched to Uttar Pradesh to bring back 413 IRB personnel to Goa for casting their vote for the Goa Assembly elections.
The Congress party has criticised police department for improper transport arrangements.
Opposition leader Digambar Kamat has raised this issue with DGP Indradev Shukla and demanded that police should be brought in by flights.
