Sonia, Modi among star campaigners for Goa

With the State in the grip of election campaign fever, five political parties “ Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Indian National Congress (INC), Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and Shiv Sena (SS) “ have listed 155 star campaigners for Goa polls with the Election Commission of India.

Nonetheless, BJP and INC have listed the highest number of star campaigners at 40, NCP’s list stands at 35, Shiv Sena at 21 and AAP at 19.   
While BJP and AAP have begun with their election campaign in full swing with several national leaders like Amit Shah, Smriti Irani, Venkaiah Naidu, Arvind Kejriwal, Kumar Vishwas, among others coming to the State to address public meetings; Congress and NCP are yet to get going.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to address BJP’s public meeting in Panaji on January 28, while other leaders of BJP including Nitin Gadkari, Rajnath Singh, Poonam Mahajan are expected to campaign in the State till February 1.   
Congress has, however, listed Manmohan Singh, Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi, among their star campaigners, but party’s office bearers disclosed that none of their schedules have been finalised. Rahul is expected to address a meeting in Goa on Jan 29.   
AAP has already had public meetings of Arvind Kejriwal at several places including Benaulim, Curchorem and Shiroda. 
The other star campaigners are Manish Sisodia, Gopal Rai, Ashutosh and Kapil Mishra, among others.

Lobo banks on Calangute ODP to sail through

The approach road to a number of houses in Maddo Vaddo and Umta Vaddo in Calangute village is still not pukka after so many years. Naturally, there are no streetlights on such roads either. It is in these parts of Calangute that sitting MLA from BJP Michael Lobo was campaigning.
