After repeated attacks on the government over the Sonsodo imbroglio and the nude party poster, the Goa Forward Party, just a few months after being dropped from the Sawant government, has now chosen the bad roads to attack the government.
Addressing the media at the party headquarters, vice-president Durgadas Kamat questioned whether the chief minister was serious about solving it and accused the CM of running a disorganised government. “The problem of potholes has been a huge issue in Goa, the problem seems to have no solution yet. Deadlines to complete the roads and fix the problem seems to be extending with no end and there’s a lot of contradiction when it comes to the deadline,” said Kamat.
“The recent machine, ‘doctor road’ seems to be the newest solution by the government. This new machine has not been tendered yet and the work has started, which is a violation of the central public works department manual and is not legal,” he added.
“This machine is capable of only repairing 15 cubic meters of road a day, which is not enough to solve the pothole problem in our State,” he went on to say.
“Recently, the PWD minister, who is an imported minister to the BJP, made a statement saying, Goa will import bitumen (tar) from Iran, which is another contradiction in itself, as India’s foreign policy prevents any trade with Iran. This shows how serious this government is in solving this problem. I hope the CM looks into this matter quickly,” he concluded.
