Beleaguered staff and employees, however, said they have been salaries for no fault of theirs. Incidentally, this is not the first time that the government has been found wanting in payment of salaries of the Communiade staff on time. In the past the employees had even resorted to a pen-down strike and knocked the doors of the Goa Human Rights Commission for their salaries.
Though GHRC had issued directives to the government and the Comunidade body to clear the salaries on time, the state government has defaulted on more than one occasion to pay the same. “Why are the authorities insensitive to the problems faced by the employees? Can anyone sustain without receiving their monthly salaries on time?” asked an employee. Agnelo Fernandes expressed his disgust with the way people are made to run around for conversion and mutation. He also brought to the notice an urgent need to maintain the water bodies.
Another employee demanded to know whether the government would clear their salaries at least on the eve of the ensuing Ganesh Chathurti scheduled in the first week of September.
