South Goa Collector approves funds to local bodies for pre-monsoon work

The South Goa district Collector and Chairperson of the District Disaster Management Authority Aswin Chandru, IAS has conveyed his approval for the payment of money to give financial assistance to the municipalities and panchayats to take up the work of cutting dangerous trees towards the monsoon preparedness.

An amount of Rs 27 lakh has been approved by the Collector. The concerned municipalities and panchayats shall submit a utilisation certificate to the Assistant Account Officer, Collectorate, South Goa by October 31, 2023.

As per the Collector’s order, the two A-Class municipalities of Margao and Mormugao are entitled to an amount of Rs one lakh each for the tree-cutting work.

The four B-class municipalities of Quepem, Ponda, Canacona, Cuncolim and Curchorem will receive Rs 50,000 each for the work. The C-Class Sanguem Municipal Council is entitled to an amount of Rs 25,000.

All the panchayats are entitled to an amount of Rs 25,000 each. The 30 panchayats in Salcete taluka will get an amount of Rs 7.50 lakh.
