Officials of taluka mamlatdars in South Goa have fanned out to various places in their respective talukas to inspect Chitrashalas and verify whether idols of Lord Ganesh are made of Plastic of Paris or not.
The inspection was ordered by the South Goa district Collector, Egna Cletus, IAS following an order banning use of Plaster of Paris.
The Collector’s office has informed that the Ponda Mamlatdar Bhiku Gawas has sent a report to the district Collector stating that not a single idol of Plastic of Paris was found in Ponda taluka.
In Mormugao, the inspection was jointly carried out by officials of the Goa State pollution Control Board and the taluka Mamlatdar office.
Similar exercise was carried out in the remaining talukas of South Goa as per the directions issued by the South Goa district Collector.
