MARGAO
Motorists, beware, the South Goa police will launch a concerted drive every day against two-wheeler and four-wheeler riders violating the provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act.
Every day, between 5 pm to 8 pm, the men-in-uniform will descend on the roads to crack a whip against the motor vehicle violators.
If an order issued by the district police Chief, SP Pankaj Kumar Singh is any indication, the local police stations, traffic police as well as the PCR vans will conduct joint checks of vehicles at various important traffic junctions in their respective jurisdictions.
Staffers deployed at the checkpoints have been ordered to conduct special drive from 5 pm to 8 pm daily, mostly concentrating on offences such as riding without helmets and number plates and use of tinted glasses by four-wheelers.
Two-wheelers causing noise pollution with modified silencers have also been brought under the purview of the district SP’s order.
While the checking points are expected to change every day, the order has mandated the police stations and the Traffic police to submit the action taken report in a format to the PCR Margao daily.
