Goa continues to receive its last spells of rain as the southwest monsoon began to retreat across India on September 14. After three months of below-normal rainfall, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) Goa has reported 4.1 per cent above normal rainfall so far this month.

“A few spells of rain are expected over the next 48 hours, after which conditions are likely to ease,” an IMD official said, while forecasting heavy showers at isolated places over the next two days.

The IMD stated on Tuesday that a cyclonic circulation over east Vidarbha and a trough from Karnataka to Tamil Nadu are still influencing weather in peninsular India.

In Goa, the monsoon remained active over the past 24 hours, with light to moderate rain recorded in most areas. Heavy showers with strong winds and thunder were reported in isolated places, leading to a yellow alert on Tuesday.
