Spa likely to be banned from operations

PANAJI

Amid the crackdown on illegal massage parlours by the police in the northern coastal belt, a luxury salon and spa has come under government scrutiny for alleged illegal operations.

Health Minister Vishwajit Rane said that file pertaining to a salon and spa for allegedly operating without requisite permissions is sent to the District Collector for necessary action. More details were awaited till going to the press.

Chief Minister Pramod Sawant had last year directed the State police to launch a crackdown against illegal massage parlours, after some tourists were allegedly attacked at a salon in Calangute. He had also warned that police inspectors will be held responsible for any illegal parlours operating in their areas of jurisdiction.

The salon and spa has branches in five locations in Panaji and Candolim.
