According to Cuncolim police, in the first accident which occurred at Fulwado-Cuncolim, one Manoj Rajput (21), a native of Uttar Pradesh was proceeding on his motorcycle from Margao to Cuncolim industrial estate. He banged his motorcycle into an electric pole and was killed on the spot.
In another fatal accident, the second one in Uskinibandh-Cuncolim, a British national, one Steven Thomson (54) was killed on the spot when the motorcycle he was riding on his way from Canacona to Margao was knocked down by a Tavera coming in the opposite direction.
Cuncolim police have registered an offence under Sections 304 (A) of IPCin both
these cases.
In two more accidents reported in Margao, a husband and wife who were proceeding from Kepem towards Margao on their two-wheeler escaped with injuries when a fire tender knocked them down in an accident reported near Power House circle, Aquem. The accident occurred when the fire tender overtook the two-wheeler and suddenly turned towards left upon reaching Power House circle.
In the process, the two-wheeler on which the husband-wife duo - Pascoal and Mazina Fernandes, residents of Sheldem-Kepem - were proceeding towards Margao were knocked down and dragged by the fire tender. They miraculously escaped with injuries.
In another accident involving three vehicles which occurred behind Ravindra Bhavan, Margao, a vehicle rammed against a two-wheeler and rickshaw. No one was injured in this incident.
