Goa Forward Party (GFP) President Vijai Sardesai has charged the Speaker of the Goa Legislative Assembly with bogging down to government’s pressure to curtail the upcoming session from seven days to four days.
The Fatorda legislator has also slammed that Private Members’ business day has been deliberately kept out this time.
“Technically, the business of the House is just three days because the first day will be Governor’s address. Earlier the Speaker had said it will be a 7-day session but he has come under the pressure of the government to reduce the working days to four,” Sardesai said while addressing a press conference on Thursday.
He indirectly hinted that Chief Minister Pramod Sawant is the brain behind curtailing the session. “CM Sawant is scared to face the Opposition although the number of Opposition MLAs has dropped from 15 to seven,” he alleged.
The unprecedented move to cancel private members’ day was also questioned by the Opposition as Sardesai alleged “Guilty of wrongdoing, despotic the government is running scared, denying basic rights of MLAs to move private bills in upcoming Assembly session. I will ask the Speaker to call the Business Advisory Committee urgently.”
