Panaji: The curtains of 55th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) will come down today evening, with a spectacular Closing Ceremony scheduled at the Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Indoor Stadium.
The event marks the end of nine days of celebrating the art of filmmaking, bringing together over 200 films from 75 countries, along with masterclasses, panel discussions, and performances.
The Closing Ceremony will pay tribute to the richness and diversity of India’s film industry, showcasing its impact both nationally and internationally. The ceremony will reflect how cinema transcends borders, bringing people together from all walks of life. Filmmakers like Sukumar, Dil Raju, Anand Tiwari, Amritpal Singh Bidra, and Australian producer Stephen Wolie will be in attendance. Renowned actors such as Allu Arjun, Rashmika Mandana, Jaya Prada, Shriya Saran, Pratik Gandhi, Sameer Kochhar, Shreya Chaudhary, Ritwik Bhowmik, and Navin Kohli will also be present.
The event will also feature celebrated musicians including Amaal Mallik and Mame Khan, who will add to the evening’s musical charm with live performances.
The legendary Australian filmmaker Phillip Noyce will be honored with the Satyajit Ray Lifetime Achievement Award, which includes a Silver Peacock Medal, a certificate, a shawl, a scroll, and a cash prize.
Actor Allu Arjun will also receive a Special Recognition award for his significant contributions to Indian cinema, particularly for his blockbuster film Pushpa 2. Additionally, the Best Web Series (OTT) award will be presented.
This year’s IFFI has been a joyous celebration of global cinema, featuring a variety of films, performances, and discussions that highlighted the power of storytelling and cinema’s ability to unite people from different cultures. The festival has been a whirlwind of movie screenings, celebrity appearances, music, dance, and discussions that kept audiences engaged and inspired throughout the event.
The closing ceremony will recognize outstanding achievements in filmmaking, with several prestigious awards being presented. The most coveted prize, the Golden Peacock, will be awarded to the Best Feature Film of the festival, along with a trophy, certificate, and cash prize for the director and producer of the winning film.
The evening will feature a dazzling performance titled "Rhythms of India," which will celebrate India’s diverse dance traditions. The performance will showcase classical dance forms from across the country, including Kathak, Mohiniyattam, Kathakali, Manipuri, Pung Cholam Drummers, and Garba. The performance will be enhanced by dynamic LED visuals, traditional motifs like Kolams, and iconic Indian music. The grand finale will feature the patriotic song "Des Mera Rangeela," symbolizing India’s unity in diversity.
