PANAJI: The State Cabinet today approved the revised iron ore Dump Handling Policy, as per which unclaimed ore rejects lying on private properties, for which land conversion fees were not paid would be e-auctioned by the Goa government.
Addressing a press conference post-cabinet meeting, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said that the revised policy will be notified shortly to allow the e-auction of around 30-40 dumps identified on private land.
He said that the e-auction, to be conducted in transparent manner, is expected to generate revenue of around Rs 400-Rs500 cr depending on the quality and quantity of the ore.
"These dumps, which are still on private property have not been claimed by anyone nor the necessary land conversion charges have been paid. As part of the new policy, the government will auction these dumps through an e-auction process in the coming days, ensuring complete transparency in the procedure," Sawant said.
Sawant said that the process to survey and identify the dumps for the auction process is underway. He said that the dumps would be e-auctioned like that of the mineral blocks.
