Union Minister for Food Processing Industries Chirag Paswan arrived in Goa on Sunday afternoon to attend the Goa Spiritual Festival, saying the event highlights the state’s spiritual and cultural depth beyond its image as a beach destination.
Paswan was received at Dabolim Airport by Vasco MLA Krishna Salkar.
Addressing the gathering, Paswan said Goa has long been known for its sun, sand and vibrant atmosphere, but added that visitors should also be introduced to the State’s spiritual heritage and historical roots. He said that in the race towards modernity, many parts of Goa’s rich traditions were fading, and stressed that it is the responsibility of the present generation to preserve this valuable heritage.
He added that while Goa offers world-class tourism infrastructure and scenic beaches, it also has a strong cultural and spiritual legacy. Paswan said the Spiritual Festival has showcased another side of Goa — its traditions and culture — to the world. He said the initiative would not only support tourism but also promote spiritual tourism, giving the State a distinct identity.
Calling it a privilege to attend the festival, the Union Minister described the event as a meaningful step towards preserving and promoting Goa’s cultural heritage on a global platform.
