Srikant Chari: Executed attacks against Portuguese

Srikant Ghansham Chari,  a prominent freedom fighter whose legacy is preserved at the ‘Aguad Interactive Museum: Goa - The Land, The Struggle, The People’ in Sinquerim, was born on February 24, 1937, in Parra. He was arrested on August 15, 1953 for putting up posters and distributing pro-freedom pamphlets.  He was later released with a warning. In December 1961, Srikant Chari skillfully smuggled dynamite sticks into Goa from Banda via Dhargal, hoodwinking police surveillance for about a fortnight. Chari also executed a planned attack on the Mapusa police station, attacked a statue in the Mapusa Municipal garden with dynamite and also attacked a Portuguese guard.
