The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) on Friday issued its first advertisement of the year, inviting applications to fill 390 teacher posts in government primary schools across the State. Of these, 352 posts are for Marathi-medium schools, while 38 posts are for Konkani-medium schools. The last date to apply is February 20.
According to the SSC notification, out of the 352 Marathi-medium posts, 158 are unreserved, 113 are reserved for Other Backward Classes (OBC), 42 for Scheduled Castes (SC), and four for Scheduled Tribes (ST). A total of 35 posts are reserved for candidates from the Economically Weaker Sections (EWS). Sixteen posts are reserved for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwD).
For Konkani-medium primary schools, the SSC plans to fill 38 vacancies. Of these, 15 posts are reserved for OBC candidates, four for EWS, and eight for PwD candidates.
The required qualification includes a Higher Secondary School Certificate (HSSC) or its equivalent, along with a two-year Diploma in Elementary Education or Diploma in Education, as per norms. Candidates with an HSSC and at least 50 per cent marks, along with a two-year Diploma in Elementary Education or an equivalent qualification, are also eligible. Those with an HSSC and a four-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed.) degree may apply, subject to National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) rules.
Applicants must have passed the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) recognised by the Government of Goa and must have at least two years of teaching experience in primary schools recognised by the Directorate of Education. Knowledge of Konkani is compulsory, while knowledge of Marathi is desirable.
