St Estevam Parish Priest passes away

Fr John Diniz, Parish Priest of St Estevam and former dean of Old Goa deanery, passed away on Friday evening. He was 53.

According to reports, Fr Diniz was on his way for a routine checkup and became unwell on the way. He was rushed to a private hospital, where he breathed his last.

Parishioners of St Estevam will pay their final homage to their departed parish priest at the St Estevam Church on Saturday at 10.30 am. The funeral is expected to take place at the Tilamola Church on Sunday evening.

Hailing from Tilamola, Fr Diniz was ordained on May 15, 1997 and served in various locations in the Archdiocese of Goa and Daman and elsewhere.

He served as assistant parish priest at Cortalim, Navelim and Shiroda, before going to the missions and serving as parish priest in Agartala for 6 years.

On his return to the archdiocese, Fr Diniz served as assistant parish priest at Nuvem, then parish priest of Arambol, parish priest of Chisda in Daman and finally, parish priest in St Estevam in 2021.
