The Bombay High Court at Goa has rejected the bail plea of Hussain Khan, a 40-year-old resident of Cacora and native of Dandeli, Karnataka, accused of murdering 55-year-old Rupa Parkar during a robbery on May 14, 2022. The court observed the brutal nature of the crime while denying bail.
Khan allegedly killed Parkar, who was from Carmona, Savordem, by repeatedly hitting her head and face with a blunt object which resulted in nine severe injuries, according to the post-mortem report. The court observed the overt act was committed brutally.
Earlier during the investigation, Khan admitted to stealing a gold chain from the victim, which he later sold at Muthoot Finance to pay off a loan. He also used the remaining money to purchase a two-wheeler. The stolen chain, the weapon used in the assault and the clothes Khan wore during the alleged crime were recovered by the police.
While delivering the verdict on Friday, Justice Bharat Deshpande stated that the offense is heinous, conducted in the most brutal manner and with utmost cruelty.
“A total of nine injuries are found on the head and the face, all caused by blunt object...It is clear that the material collected by the investigating agency shows that the overt act was committed brutally and thereafter the dead body was disposed of so as to conceal the offender,” it observed while rejecting the bail plea of the accused.
