The forest department on Friday morning registered a case against a land owner in connection with the felling of trees in Dhullai-Dharbandora.
The process of filing a formal complaint against the land owner at the police station has also been initiated.
In Dharbandora panchayat area, hill cutting has been reported at three places, with the intention to develop and sell plots.
The show-cause notices have been issued to two persons, one in connection with hill-cutting at Pratapnagar and the other in connection with hill-cutting at Dhullai.
The two have been directed to submit necessary documents to the authorities.
Meanwhile, in the hill cutting case in Pratapnagar, an investigation by officials has revealed that more than 40 people have bought the plots.
