St Estevam sarpanch Smita Sawant was ousted by 4-3 votes in a no-confidence motion in the panchayat office on Tuesday.

The four panchas who voted in favour of the motion included Nolasco Menezes, Karishma Monteiro, Suzette Silveira and Saira Narvekar.

Later, speaking to The Goan, panch Menezes informed that there was a need for a change in the leadership due to which the motion was moved against the sarpanch.
