Staff shortage at the Directorate of Official Language has hampered TCP’s efforts to translate the draft Goa Land Development and Building Construction (Amendment) Regulations 2021.
"We had written for a translation of the draft regulations to the Directorate of Official Language but they expressed their inability to do the work due to shortage of staff. This has delayed the translation,” said Town and Country Planning department Chief Town Planner James Mathew, while speaking to The Goan.
Despite efforts, officials at the Directorate of Official Language were not available to comment on the matter.
Meanwhile, Mathew said around 8-19 suggestions have been received by the TCP department regarding the said draft regulations.
“Most of the suggestions have been from builders,” said Mathew.
It may be recalled that in a bid to implement the Goa Land Development and Building construction (amendment) Regulations 2021, the State government in a notification published on July 6 had invited suggestions and objections within 30 days of publication.
GOACAN, a consumer rights organisation, demanded a translation of the draft in Konkani and Marathi on the website, to ensure more participation from all sections of society.
