Two other stalls have also been identified by the activists for verification by the legal metrology officials, while the FDA has been asked to check the quality of food items sold in another stall.
GOACAN convenor Roland Martins along with other consumer activists descended at the ongoing consumer exhibition at the SGPDA ground on Thursday evening after they came across a stall selling copper bottles without proper packaging and sans any certification by medical
associations.
"When we inspec
ted the copper bottles, we realised that the product had violated Packaged Commodities norms. Besides, the bottles were neither verified nor certified by any medical association," he said.
Moreover, it was found that no name of the manufacturer was mentioned on the bottle, with Martins saying that a detailed complaint will be lodged with the South Goa district Collector to check these unhealthy practices.
"We strongly feel that such products should have the necessary clearances from the Health, FDA and Medical associations in order to create a safe environment," he added.
