State gets Rs 398 cr from Centre as advance tax devolution instalment

The Union government has disbursed an instalment of advance tax devolution to Goa government amounting to Rs 398cr, which is in addition to the normal monthly amount.

The Union Finance Ministry has announced that normal monthly devolution is due for release on August 10.

Currently, 41 per cent of taxes collected by the Centre is devolved in 14 instalments among states during a fiscal year.

Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said that the release of additional funds will give a major boost to development. Sawant thanked the Union Government, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, for releasing Rs 1,09,019 crore as Tax Devolution to the States, including an advance instalment of Rs 398 crore for Goa to accelerate capital and developmental expenditure.

“This timely release will further strengthen Goa's development journey by enabling faster execution of infrastructure projects, enhancing public service delivery, and driving inclusive growth,” he said.

The Chief Minister added that it reflects the Government of India's commitment to cooperative federalism and empowering States in building a Viksit Bharat.
