BELAGAVI
A state-of-the-art RT-PCR Covid Testing Centre has been set up at the Maratha Mandal Dental College campus in Belagavi, which will generate reports on the same day and Goans visiting Belagavi can also avail of this service.
Belagavi Deputy Commissioner M G Hiremath inaugurated the centre on Tuesday in presence of Rotary District 3170 Governor Sangram Patil.
The Centre has been established in coordination with Rotary Club of Belgaum in association with Lakeview Goaves Hospital and Maratha Mandal Dental College.
Speaking on the occasion, Hiremath who expressed gratitude to Rotary and others for setting up the Centre and warned people of a possible second wave.
Speaking from the medical point of view, Dr Shashikant Kulgod, Director of Lakeview Hospital, Belagavi, said there is a possibility of a second wave and hence, the testing centre has come at an opportune time.
He explained that the sample collection would be done at Lakeview Goaves Hospital and Home Collection facilities for swab collection would also be provided.
“Goans visiting Belagavi can also avail of this service,” Dr Kulgod added.
Microbiologist Dr Kishore Bhat said the Truenat RT-PCR machine installed at the Centre gives highly accurate and fast results and can also be used for detection of other diseases like Tuberculosis and Chikungunya etc.
“The reports would be available on the same day,” he said.
Rajshree Nagaraju extended support to the poor and financially needy persons in society, if they were in need of the testing facilities.
