The Candolim panchayat has issued a stop-work notice to a structure under construction in the village.
The action was initiated following complaints by villagers in October 2022 and earlier this month.
Taking note of the complaint, the Goa Coastal Zone Management Authority (GCZMA) inspected the property and found three permanent structures constructed on the premises, which is a Non-Development Zone.
The company had shown in the approved plan that the proposed construction falls outside the CRZ limits and had misled the officers, but the actual investigation on site revealed that the construction falls in Non-Development Zone, making it clear that it is being carried out without any permission.
Accordingly, the panchayat issued the stop-work notice with immediate effect to the company, which has been directed to submit a reply within 15 days. The Candolim panchayat also sent a letter to GCZMA regarding the illegal construction and has sought action in the matter.
