Strong winds and incessant rains left behind a trail of destruction in many parts of Salcete, with uprooted trees damaging houses and vehicles, besides electric poles.
In fact, the Margao Fire brigade was busy on its toes throughout Friday attending to a host of calls at Rawanfond, Mandopa, Sao Jose de Areal etc.
Fire Officer Gill D’Souza informed that vehicles, which were parked in a car shed, were damaged at Rawanfond, causing loss to the owners. He said strong winds uprooted trees at many places in Salcete, causing damage to houses and electric poles.
He said the incidents caused traffic disruptions, which were later cleared by the fire personnel.
