The students started the rally from Headland-Sada junction and walked towards Satya Narayan temple at Sada and culminated their march near the tent of the agitating workers.
Speaking to The Goan, Rachana Bhagwat, daughter of an agitating WISL worker, said the students studying in schools at Headland-Sada have given support to their parents, who are fighting for their pending salaries of eight months.
“Union leaders Alex Pacheco and Vishnu Naik are on indefinite hunger strike for almost three weeks and neither ministers nor local politicians including the chief minister tried to intervene and solve the problem,” said Bhagwat.
Mahesh Naik, a WISL employee, said for the first time their children and their friends had to come on the road to demand justice. “Neither the government nor the management are interested in solving our problem and ease our difficulties,” said Naik.
An elderly employee alleged that a local politician was spreading false news that the company has settled their dues. “If our dues are settled, then our children along with the students would not have come on the road to demand justice,” said the employee.
