Benaulim MLA Churchill Alemao has blamed outgoing Transport Minister Sudin Dhavalikar for all the ills plaguing the transport department.

He said many an issue affecting the tourism transport, including tourist taxi operators, is the result of mishandling of the transport department by Dhavalikar.

“Sudin had presided over the affairs of the transport department for around 18 years. If the tourism stakeholders, including tourist taxi operators, had to constantly come on the roads, it is because of the wrong policies pursued by the transport department headed by Dhavalikar,” Churchill told the media.

He said people of Goa had fought to make Konkani the official language to protect their interests so that they enjoy the fruits of development. “What is the use of Konkani language if outsiders can freely obtain a taxi badge.

Sudin has failed to protect the interests of the local youth,” he added.
