Support pours in from North for protest against rail-doubling

Most of the protesters must have hailed from Salcete and surrounding areas from down South, but many people came all the way from North Goa as well.

Historian Prajal Sakhardande came with his group to express solidarity with the people protesting at Chandor.

He said he has come to oppose the projects since they would spell doom for Goa. “People should oppose the menace of double-tracking and coal,” he said

Mahesh Mahambrey of Progressive People of Goa said he and his friends too have come to support the agitation. “We had in the past written letters to the Centre and the local government opposing the linear projects,” he said.
