This initiative under Swachh Bharat Mission titled Swachh Pakhwada not only helped to clear the messy surroundings, but helped foster team spirit amongst the staff “ right from doctors to the para-medics and the attendants that the hospital belongs to them. In fact, if you find the outer wall of the Hospicio hospital whitewashed, credit goes to the hospital doctors and others, who all joined hands with paint and brushes to give a new look for the entire premises.
Thursday saw a group of doctors and para-medics going around the Hospicio hospital, judging the clean-up operation of the wards carried out by the hospital doctors and staff. As per the Swachh Pakhwada fortnight long mission, five hospital wards, which were an eyesore, were taken up by the different groups of doctors and other staff members.
Says Hospicio Medical Superintendent Dr Ira Almeida: “The Directorate of Health Services had asked us to take up five hospital wards which needed attention the most. The initiative has not only helped the doctors and para-medics to clean up the wards, but helped to foster team spirit. The entire exercise helped to bring about a sense of
belongingness”.
The DHS allocated Rs 500 for each of the wards to bring about a change during the fortnight-long operation, the amount turned out a pittance, considering the expenses incurred on the exercise. In fact, the hospital doctors and staff chipped in their contributions to make the initiative a success.
Not only the wards were cleaned-up, but the doctors, para-medics and attendants painted the walls with pictures, giving a new look in tune with the environment, Dr Ira said.
