State BJP President Sadanand Tanavade has expressed confidence that most constituency mandal presidents will be elected unopposed, following a transparent and inclusive selection process that seeks to involve karyakartas and leaders at all levels.
Speaking at a news conference on Thursday, Tanavade revealed that the party’s decision to fix an age limit of 45 years for mandal presidents and 60 years for district presidents, is expected to streamline the election process.
“With these guidelines in place, many constituencies are likely to see unanimous selections without any contest. The process is being conducted in a transparent manner, with the final announcement expected by January 5,” Tanavade said.
The State party chief chaired a meeting with senior BJP leaders from 20 constituencies in North Goa at the party’s Mapusa office, engaging in one-on-one discussions with ministers, MLAs, and prominent leaders.
“We had open and productive discussions about the organisational elections. There is consensus among leaders that the mandal president elections should be unanimous,” he added.
Senior BJP leaders Narendra Savaikar, Vinay Tendulkar, Damu Naik, Govind Parvatkar, Premanand Mhambare and Sanju Desai joined Tanavde during the press briefing.
The BJP’s organisational overhaul is expected to introduce several new faces, bringing fresh energy to the party.
While the election process across North Goa constituencies is anticipated to proceed smoothly, sources indicate some dissatisfaction among loyal workers due to attempts by certain MLAs to push candidates of their choice for mandal president positions.
