For the last five days, there has been no drinking water supply in Devulwada in Pissurlem area. The villagers are facing the brunt and have threatened to march on the water supply office at Valpoi if the drinking water problem is not resolved within two days.
As the monsoons have begun, it has been raining heavily in these parts. In such a situation, there has been a problem of drinking water for the last five days at Devulwada in Pissurlem village as suddenly the taps have run dry. The villagers have expressed their displeasure over the persistent disregard for the demand for permanent measures in the area. According to further information provided by the villagers, they have to struggle to get drinking water.
There is a constant shortage of drinking water in this area. As a result, villagers in the area have to rely on tankers. For the last five days, the public water supply department has been trying to supply water through tankers. However, this problem is being created due to shortage of water supply, said Devanand Parab, a former Sarpanch of the village and panchayat and existing panchayat member.
Parab has expressed fears that such a situation may arise in the rainy season which could lead to worrisome situation in the coming period. Parab has warned that if the drinking water problem is not resolved within two days, the officials of the water supply office will have to face serious consequences.
There are mining pits in the area around Pissurlem area. Due to the mining business, the water level in this area has gone down a lot. Due to this, natural water supply is not available in this area. The villagers of this area have to depend entirely on tap water supply.
