Gonvoll Boys of Assolda beat Handi Boys of Maina 8-7 via the tiebreaker to clinch the Golden Jubilee Cup Davorlim SC football tournament in a thrilling final played at Davorlim ground on Sunday.

The teams were tied 2-2 at full time. Brevan Dias scored a brace for Gonvoll Boys while Joyvin Carneiro and Maldinho Rodrigues netted a goal each for Handi Boys Maina. In the tie-breaker, Gonvoll Boys proved to be the better shooters.

Gonvoll Boys were richer by Rs 60,000 while Hindi Boys had to settle for a prize of Rs 40,000.

Individual prizes: Up and coming player - Roland Niasso (Davorlim SC), Fairplay player - Francisco Colaco (Davorlim SC), Highest scorer of the tournament - Nash Mascarenhas (Handi Boys), Best goalkeeper - Allwyn Faria (Gonvoll Boys, Assolda), Best midfielder - Moses D’Sa (Gonvoll Boys, Assolda), Best defender - Joel Martins (Handi Boys), Best forward - Joywin Carneiro (Handi Boys), Best disciplined team - Verna Boys.

Navelim MLA Ulhas Tuenkar was the chief guest and gave away the prizes to the winners and runners-up in the presence of Fr Domnic Noronha, parish priest of Our Lady of Rosary Church, Davorlim, Sidesh Bhagat, Raza Shaikh, other dignitaries and club officials. Police Inspector, Crime Branch, Filomeno Costa was the driving force behind organising the tournament.
