Sports Minister and Canacona MLA Ramesh Tawadkar on Saturday dared the opposition to contest against him at the forthcoming assembly elections in Canacona,

He was addressing the largely attended ‘Seva Sankalp Padyatra’ in Canacona in the presence of State BJP President Damu Naik, Vice-President Chandrakant (Babu) Kavlekar and other leaders.

The Seva Sankalp Padyatra began at Shri Gaitonde Ground near the Dy Collectorate and would up at KTC complex, Chaudi

Sending a strong message to his opponents, Tawadkar warned them not to taunt him that he is an MLA with only 33% of votes.

“I welcome anyone or everyone to contest elections against me in Canacona. This time, I will secure over 70% of polled votes. Let the opposition dare contest against me,” Tawadkar warned the opposition.

“BJP has undertaken development in Canacona, and it won't be long that a Rs 20 crore beautification project and a modern fish market will be set up,” he said.

Hitting out at Goa Forward Party’s ‘Zuim Ghanv Thuim Hanv’ campaign, Tawadkar said: “People staying in Margao should stop telling us in Canacona.”

Khushavati District President Prabhakar Gaonkar had earlier stated that State BJP President Damu Naik had already hinted that the Canacona ticket would be allotted to Tawadkar and asked the karyakartas to begin campaigning for Tawadkar.

BJP Vice President Chandrakant (Babu) Kavlekar  said Canacona will be the first seat out of 30 assembly seats that the BJP would win in the 2027 elections.

ZP (Poinguinim) Ajay (Ajit) Lolienkar, Poinguinim Sarpanch Savita Tawadkar, and Canacona Ravindra Bhavan Vice-Chairman Ramakant Naik Gaonkar also spoke on the occasion.
