Tawadkar lets his ire fly, hits out at critic

An emotional Sports Minister Ramesh Tawadkar on Thursday hit out at detractors from his own party, claiming that they could not digest that fact that he had done justice to all his ministries.
Speaking at a function to lay the foundation stone for a project at Poinguinim, Tawadkar became emotional while listing out his achievements for the people of Canacona.
Without mentioning names, Tawadkar made indirect references to his one-time party colleague and ex-MLA Vijay Poi Khot.
“This person cannot see or digest the development and achievements we achieved for the people of Canacona and the unity our party gained in the constituency,” said Tawadkar.
“For the last four-and-half years, we, BJP workers, with the support of our constituents slogged to achieve success in Canacona; be it in agriculture, animal husbandry, tribal welfare or sports and youth affairs.”
“Goa and Canacona in particular have seen development, which neither the State nor Canacona taluka saw in the last 50 years since liberation. As for BJP, the party has never been organised before the way we are seeing our organization triumphing with unity and success,” he said.
“This person cannot accept that a man of my status could achieved so much in such a short time and he has gone blind, but wants only to eat the fruits reaped by the toil and sweat of others,” said the Canacona MLA.
“Our politics is not normal or limited to only on roads, electricity and water, but it is unique and caring with love and affection for the people,” he added.
According to sources, Poi Khot has reportedly been making efforts to get the BJP ticket for Canacona constituency, which was denied to him during the 2012 assembly election when Poinguinim and Canacona constituencies were merged to form one Canacona constituency.
Poi Khot’s supporters reportedly began a campaign, including a signed petition, against Tawadkar and had contacted the BJP headquarters to get the party ticket for Poi Khot.
In the past, Goa BJP chief Vinay Tendulkar has claimed that Poi Khot was not even a primary BJP member and added that there was no way he could be in the list of ticket aspirants in Canacona.
