Taj Cidade de Goa (TCDG) proudly hosted Techfest 2025, a dynamic and inspiring technical festival curated by the Engineering Team at TCDG. The event brought together Chief Engineers (CEs) and Directors of Engineering (DOEs) from all IHCL hotels across Goa, as well as engineering leaders from esteemed hospitality chains.
The event was inaugurated by Ranjit Phillipose, Senior Vice President – Operations, Goa, IHCL, and Vivek Batra, General Manager, Taj Cidade de Goa.
Techfest 2025 served as a vibrant platform for hotel engineers to showcase technological innovations, share best practices, and explore state-of-the-art solutions installed across hotel infrastructures. With a focus on sustainability, efficiency, and safety, the festival reinforced the commitment of the hospitality sector to continuous improvement and environmental stewardship.
Attendees experienced firsthand demonstrations of cutting-edge technologies, such as:
Energy-efficient Trane Chillers, Swegon Indoor Air Quality System in guest rooms, Zero Discharge STP by EP Bio Composite, Cost-effective and sustainable Laundry Management by Supershine, Interel Guest Room Management System for energy efficiency, Automated Cooling Tower Treatment by Nalco, 450 KG LOT LPG Cylinders by Total Gas and Nextgen CCTV & Fire Detection Systems operational across TCDG.
These exhibits highlighted the strides being made in energy conservation, safety systems, and sustainable operations within the hospitality sector.
The event featured insightful talks from renowned industry experts:
Jeronimo Lobo, Certified Energy Auditor and Chief Engineer for North Goa, spoke on Electrical Safety and Energy Efficiency in the hospitality sector. With over 35 years of experience, his leadership in sustainable engineering practices has been instrumental across IHCL.
Mahesh Prabhu, Vice Chair of ISHRAE TG D 102 and a water hygiene specialist, educated attendees on Water Treatment and Legionella Control, sharing valuable insights from his global experience.
Mahesh Bakal, an expert in wastewater management and water treatment chemicals, highlighted innovative approaches to wastewater treatment and sustainability in the hospitality sector.
Techfest 2025 also featured renowned exhibitors such as Trane, Interel, Swegon, EP Bio Composite, Nextgen, NCH, Nalco, Supershine, and Origin, offering hands-on demonstrations and live product showcases installed in TCDG and other partner hotels.
Engineers benefited from practical site demos, enabling them to view live installations and understand system operations within real hotel environments. Additionally, the event encouraged active dialogue around challenges faced by engineers and the sharing of proven solutions, fostering cross-property learning and innovation.
The event served as an excellent networking platform, encouraging collaboration among engineers across IHCL and partner hotel brands. Informal interactions throughout the day facilitated knowledge sharing, camaraderie, and mutual growth.
