Environment minister Nilesh Cabral said people below 20 years can look at technology as the future, while people above 20 can look at technology to improve themselves.
He was speaking to reporters after inaugurating the G-Tech expo by Computer Dealers Forum of Goa (CDFG) at Ravindra Bhavan, Baina, in the presence of
Vasco MLA Carlos Almeida, Mormugao Municipal Council (MMC) Chairperson Nandadeep Raut and other MMC councillors.
Cabral said the G-Tech expo is a great platform for children to see new technology and products and to take part in quiz and training programmes.
“Technology is the future and it is necessary that children are guided into this field at an initial stage. There used to be a fear that computers would replace traditional jobs and I remember when computers were introduced in banks, the staff felt their jobs would be lost but today, computers are an integral part of jobs.”
“Technology is always evolving and is the future. People below the age of 20 can look at technology as the future and people above 20 can look at technology to improve themselves,” said Cabral.
Vasco MLA Carlos Almeida said Vasco was lucky to have been chosen as the
location for the Tech Expo by CDFG.
“I feel that students must take advantage of this expo and I have also offered to give the organisers and schools around a bus service so that it can help students visit the expo and learn something new,” said Almeida.
Yogesh Kerkar, a member of CDFG, said the IT quiz and talent hunt competitions with the concluding entertainment show on the
final day is expected to take technology to a very different level of freeing stress. “The unique tech show presented by 20 IT firms comprising OEM manufacturers and Goan IT vendors enthralled the visitors with a display of variety of latest technologies,” said Kerkar.
The expo features products ranging from IT security, smart automation, advanced computer gaming, audio video technologies, water conservation, softwares on customised dress making, 3D printing, large format displays, financial
accounting solutions for businesses inclusive of easy filing of GST returns, IT education, CCTV and surveillance system, latest printing technologies of home and businesses and advanced high-end
laptops.
